Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic says some countries are trying to convince other EU member states to set additional conditions for Serbia. He said that France’s message that it would do its best not to have any new conditions for Serbia in order to get the EU candidate status or impossible conditions for the beginning of the accession talks was encouraging. Some countries "trying to thwart Serbia’s EU integration" “The reality is that some countries are at the moment trying to convince other EU members to set additional conditions for Serbia for obtaining the candidate status,” Djelic told daily Press. When asked what those conditions could be, the deputy prime minister said that “the only conditions that could be a problem were those that crossed the red lines of the state policy toward Kosovo”. “Unfortunately there are those in Europe who think that we can order Serbs in Kosovo to abolish democratically elected institutions and go to the elections organized by Pristina. That simply isn’t possible,” Djelic stressed. Commenting on the increased level of euroskepticism in Serbia, he said that the countries which had decided to support Pristina’s unilateral moves, including the use of force, were responsible for it. “The growth of the euroskepticism has very harmful consequences. Consensus regarding the EU accession is crumbling very quickly,” Djelic stressed. Bozidar Djelic
