A team in charge of continuing EULEX’s investigation into human organ trafficking will soon be formed, media in Pristina have announced. Pristina-based Albanian language daily writes that the team will very soon continue the investigation that EULEX started in January. Organ trade investigation team to be “operational soon” “The team will very soon become operational and will work as a part of EULEX,” EULEX Spokesman Nicholas Hawton told the daily. “Recruitment of personnel is almost finished. We expect the team to start working very soon, relying on EULEX’s previous investigation,” he was quoted as saying. He did not want to reveal any details about the team that will be in charge of the investigation into human organ trade, inhumane treatment and organized crime, which was launched after Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty had published his report. According to the allegations, former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) members, including Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, headed the organized crime ring. Kosovo government representatives have denied the allegations but have expressed their willingness to cooperate during the investigation. (Beta, file)
