The Serbian government negotiators in the Kosovo talks "have a new proposal for to settle the customs stamps problem", writes a Belgrade-based daily. Blic newspaper claims that the proposal to use "two stamps" will be put forward as the negotiations continue on September 5 in Brussels. "Belgrade will suggest use of two customs stamps" "Less than three weeks ahead of the next round of negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, the Serbian side is ready to make a step further in making a compromise," writes the daily, adding that it had "unofficially learned" that Belgade would suggest introduction of dual customs stamps at administrative checkpoints between Kosovo and central Serbia. "The idea is that there are stamps of both sides, Serbian and (ethnic) Albanian: one on which it would be written ‘Kosovo Customs’ or ‘Pec, (Kosovska) Mitrovica, Pristina Customs’ and the other reading ‘UNMIK-Kosovo-Customs Service’ or ‘EULEX-Kosovo-Customs Service’’, the newspaper quoted a source it said was "close to Belgrade negotiating team". According to that unnamed source, "the Serbian side will under no circumstances accept a stamp reading ‘Republic of Kosovo Customs’." Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanovic did not wish to comment on the report, said the newspaper, and quoted unnamed "political analysts in Belgrade and Pristina", as seeing this idea as "useful".
