The Serbian government representatives have called on northern Kosovo Serbs to support the agreement. Northern Kosovo Serbs remain at barricades The Serbs are waiting for local authorities to make a decision on removal of barricades. The decision should be made at a session of four northern Kosovo municipal assemblies that should be held in the beginning of next week. The Serbian government and KFOR representatives last night reached the agreement on functioning of Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings, which was accepted by the Kosovo government. Kosovska Mitrovica Municipal President Krstimir Pantic told Tanjug that consultations with councilor groups would begin on Saturday. Barricades in the village of Rudare will remain in place. Barricades in Zubin Potok, Zupce and Leposavic will also stay but one lane will be open for traffic. Passenger vehicles are allowed to pass through the Jarinje and Brnjak checkpoints without much delay. The interim agreement will be in effect until September 15. Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic said Friday night that municipal representatives had a big responsibility after the agreement with KFOR was reached and that they should make a decision that is in the best interest of the Serbian people. According to him, it would not be good if the state and municipal representatives had different positions because it would only make an already bad situation even worse. “I don’t see a reason why after all tensions and frustrations we would not be able to reach unity and solve the problem,” Bogdanovic stressed. “The agreement prevented bloodshed, temporary institutions from coming to life, special ROSU units from entering northern Kosovo, hermetic sealing off from Serbia. We got guarantees from the international community and that’s maybe what we have been wishing for at the moment, but return to a situation before July 25 is unrealistic at the moment and under these circumstances,” the minister explained.
