The four Serb municipalities in the north backed the Serbian authorities demand for the situation at Jarinje and Brnjak to be restored to their previous status. A return to the situation prior to the July 25 attempt of the Kosovo Albanian authorities tried to seize the administrative checkpoints and ban entry of Serbian goods would enable for a "durable normalization", said the councilors. Serbs want to preserve unity in northern Kosovo They said expressed readiness to firm cooperation with the government representatives in order to resolve the crisis in their part of the province, and asked for a 15-member delegation to be received by President Boris Tadic. They did not discuss the agreement reached by Serbian officials and NATO-led KFOR, because they were not presented with its details. At the session today, the municipal representatives adopted conclusions which call for greater involvement of UNMIK in resolving the situation in northern Kosovo, in line with its mandate granted by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244. The conclusions also call for close cooperation between the municipalities in northern Kosovo and representatives of the Serbian authorities, in an effort to bring about a speedy and complete normalization of life and work in the area. The culprit for the crisis in northern Kosovo is the Pristina government and the support of certain countries to its violent actions, along with the failure of KFOR and EULEX to act in line with their mandate, reads a statement issued by the municipalities. Serb representatives in the Kosovo parliament and government are invited to leave the interim institutions and stop supporting Hashim Thaci, who is sending special forces to "terrorize and expel" Serbs from the northern part of the province. "Decisive and united resistance of the people in northern Kosovo is a response to open attempts of the Pristina government to seize northern Kosovo and unite it with the quasi state of Kosovo," it is said in the conclusions. The conclusions also urge the people and leaders of the municipalities in northern Kosovo to stay united, and act decisively and responsibly in protection of their own survival and national and state interests.
