Protests over Kepiro acquittal in two towns The protests, which will go under the slogan, "He is guilty!", will take place in central squares in Novi Sad and Belgrade. The participants will "express their disagreement with the unjust ruling handed to the proven war criminal who committed the Novi Sad genocide in January 1942", said the organizer. Some estimates show that around 1,200 Serb, Jewish and Roma civilians were rounded up in the space of three days to be executed by the Hungarian fascist forces occupying Serbia. But the Holocaust Memorial Society said on its website that more that 2,000 victims of the massacre have been identified to date. The protesters have been asked to bring with them candles, and thus symbolically express "a victory of light over the dark criminal minds that were capable of planning the Novi Sad Raid". In Novi Sad, the participants in the protest will also walk to the memorial site on the banks of the Danube, where the executions took place. The memorial in Novi Sad (Beta, file)
