Opposition New Serbia (NS) leader Velimir Ilic believes that the government is unable to solve problems. He added that “it is a shame that we are quietly watching our own downfall”. Opposition party leader accuses govt. of hiding affairs Ilic believes that the government is not doing a very good job in the field of economy and that citizens are greatly dissatisfied. “Problems are everywhere, in the health system, civil engineering, agriculture, energy,” he explained and stressed that the state budget was empty, that the dinar exchange rate was artificially maintained and that exporters were struggling. The former infrastructure minister said that everybody used to criticize him for not working on corridors enough. “Those who only speak about corridors today have made only about 60 kilometers in three years and they have neglected the remaining roads. That simply cannot be compared,” the NS leader pointed out. He accused the government of hiding affairs of its officials and public companies’ directors. “That is why they are not solving the Kolubara affair, what about the Satellite affair,” Ilic wonders but believes that everything will be sorted out. He pointed out that the NS had submitted a report to the Anti-Corruption Agency which showed that the party had not received a single dinar from donor the previous year. “We have modest finances, we did not allow tycoons to be our donors because it would ruin us, as well as many others,” Ilic stressed. He repeated that the NS supported European integration but underscored that Europe wanted stable and economically strong Serbia and not a state with soup kitchens, million of unemployed people and corruption.
