Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic has called on the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) to stay in the coalition with the DS, daily Blic has reported. He also called on the SPS not to make any deals with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), unnamed DS officials told the daily. According to the daily’s sources, the DS leader recently “clearly pointed out that he does not share the same values with the SNS and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)” and that any coalition with them is therefore impossible. With the message he primarily wanted to remind SPS leader Ivica Dacic of the reconciliation declaration that the SPS and the DS had signed and to call him to smooth their recent differences. The president’s cabinet has confirmed that Tadić’s call for reconciliation with “political opponents” referred to the Socialists, not the opposition parties.

According to the daily’s sources, the DS leader recently “clearly pointed out that he does not share the same values with the SNS and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)” and that any coalition with them is therefore impossible.

With the message he primarily wanted to remind SPS leader Ivica Dačić of the reconciliation declaration that the SPS and the DS had signed and to call him to smooth their recent differences.

Dačić refused to answer whether Tadić’s call for reconciliation would fix the shaken relations within the ruling coalition.
