President Boris Tadic said on Wednesday that the standard of living could rise significantly in 2013 "if the conditions are created to attract investment". The average salary "at the start of the current government's mandate" was the highest in recent history, Tadic, who also heads the ruling Democratic Party (DS) stated, adding that it "would have been between EUR 500-600 had it not been for the global economic crisis". Tadic expects "significant growth in standard of living" "We paid a terrible price during the crisis, but we also created the conditions needed to start production and, if we keep discipline and avoid impossible promises, we can expect a real growth from the end of 2012," he asserted. "We have made mistakes. Some we can fix in the months to come, but in essence we are constantly moving forward, even though we are having difficulties, and the important thing is that we do not stop," the president remarked. He put the deadlines given for some key infrastructure projects among unrealistic promises, describing them as too optimistic, but even though the projects are not progressing at the desired pace, he steel feels that the work is faster than ever. All of the important projects regarding transport infrastructure will be completed soon, Tadic asserted, adding that construction work would follow closely after.
