In their statements after the meeting, Sargsyan and Tadic said that the two peoples have a centuries-long tradition of cooperation, adding that the political cooperation between the two countries should be crowned with a stronger economic and political cooperation. Tadic said that the two countries should sign numerous economic agreements, so that their economic cooperation would reach a very high level of their political cooperation. Taking into account that both countries are located in the regions characterized by turbulent pasts, Tadic and Sargsyan agreed that the issues concerning Nagorno-Karabakh and Kosovo should be resolved only by peaceful means and through talks. "The preservation of peace and stability is very important for our citizens and the respective regions that our countries are parts of, which for centuries have been hit by destruction and ethnic cleansing, and that must change," Tadic underscored. The Armenian delegation also includes Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan, who held a meeting with their Serbian counterparts, Vuk Jeremic and Predrag Markovic respectively. Several bilateral agreements will be signed during the visit of Armenia's state delegation to Serbia. The Serbian president paid a visit to Yerevan in July 2009 when he agreed with the Armenian president that regional conflicts such as Kosovo and Metohija and Nagorno-Karabakh have to be resolved without the use of force, but rather by means of talks and in keeping with the principles and norms of international law. On the occasion, the two presidents reached an agreement on promotion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly the economic one.
