Serbians, Macedonians to cross border with ID cards

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic is visiting Macedonia on January 28 and 29. “Macedonian and Serbian citizens will soon be able to travel across the border with identity cards only, without passports,” he said Friday. Serbians, Macedonians to cross border with ID cards “Agreement on this was reached with Macedonian Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska,” the Serbian minister pointed out. Another meeting with his Macedonian counterpart is scheduled for Saturday. “Preparations will be carried out and the decision will be made official at the next meeting of the Macedonian and Serbian prime ministers,” Dacic said. He also recommended the opening of another border crossing between Macedonia and Serbia – Ogut - Golema Crcorija. As regards the position of minorities in the two countries, he said that Serbia guaranteed the respect of human rights of the Macedonian minority and expected Macedonia to give equal treatment to the Serb minority. Dacic headed the Serbian delegation to a celebration organized on the occasion of the St. Sava’s Day in Macedonia. The Serbian interior minister attended on January 28 the main celebration of St. Sava’s Day “Svetosavski Sabor” in the village of Kuceviste, which has a majority Serb population. Ivica Dacic (FoNet)
