“I have nothing to hide and I demand that the international community and Kosovo authorities investigate the whole case,” Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci said. He told Associated Press (AP) that he would be "very cooperative" in dealing with allegations made in a report by Council of Europe investigator Dick Marty that the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), led by Thaci, killed Serb and Albanian civilian captives to sell their kidneys in 1999. I’m ready to cooperate, Thaci says The outgoing Kosovo PM says that Marty’s report is a direct blow to the negotiation process of “Serbia and Kosovo”. “The report is politically motivated, it is not based on facts and its goal is to damage the newly-created state of Kosovo, Kosovo’s image, to question the election process, creation of institutions and Kosovo’s European future. This attack is directed against two states, Kosovo and Albania and against all Albanians. This is a direct attack on the negotiation process between Kosovo and Serbia,” Thaci pointed out. “I have nothing to hide and I demand that the whole case is investigated by the international community and Kosovo authorities. The case has already been investigated three times. The Hague Tribunal, UNMIK as well as EULEX dealt with it. I have full confidence in judicial organs and truth will very soon come to light. And I will be open for every cooperation,” he said. On the other hand, Director of the government Office for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal Dusan Ignjatovic has stated that judiciary bears the biggest responsibility for prosecution of the persons suspected of being involved in the human organ trafficking. He told daily Politika that it was important to conduct a serious investigation and to include all relevant institutions in order to avoid the situation in which EULEX would not have access to UNMIK and the Hague Tribunal’s documents, as the CoE investigator wrote in his report. British journalist Tim Judah has assessed that Marty’s report delivered a devastating blow to Thaci and Kosovo’s credibility. He told Radio Free Europe that the report would halt Kosovo’s EU integration process and that it would make it harder for Kosovo to prove itself as a credible state. Hashim Thaci (FoNet, file)
