Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac has commented on reports that SPS leader and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic would become Serbia's next PM. Sutanovac said that the ruling Democrats (DS) did not discuss the possibility of making Dacic the prime minister in a reshuffled government. DS minister addresses "Dacic for PM" rumors Sutanovac, who is also one of the DS deputy presidents, told reporters in Belgrade today that he found out about this "possibility " from the newspapers. He added added that reporters were the first to tell him about the chance of himself assuming the office of interior minister in the reshuffled cabinet. “I believe we will discuss these matters after the DS election assembly. This is surely not the question for me, because I will not be the government's prime minister,” the said. “I believe that Mirko Cvetkovic has met many criteria for the office he is holding, and I think that he is a good prime minister,” Sutanovac noted. Also today, another high-ranking DS official, Dragoljub Micunovic, said that it was "not realistic" to expect that Dacic would be given the post of prime minister. Sutanovac, meanwhile, also stated that Serbia's Constitution needed amendments and that the idea to reduce the number of deputies in the country's parliament was a good idea. “It is good that today, opposition parties are ready to follow country's president Boris Tadic, who said several months ago that Serbia needed a smaller and more compact parliament and government. Certainly, considering the size of Serbia and its population, 250 MPs is too much,” Sutanovac told reporters. “We have to go for the change of the Constitution not only for that reason (reducing the number of MPs and government officials), but also because there is a lot of defining work to do regarding Serbia in the 21st century,” Sutanovac explained.
