Chair of the Anti-Corruption Council Verica Barac says the media in Serbia are under increasingly being put under control over the past two to three years. According to Barac, news reports mostly contain what somebody has said, lacking real investigative journalism, which appears only occasionally. "Serbian media increasingly under control" Barac spoke at a seminar on organized crime and corruption in the Western Balkans and the role of investigative journalism, where she criticized the lack of transparency surrounding the sale of Telekom Srbija, a state-owned telecommunications company, and added that the government had taken months to announce its decision to sell the company. She also commented on the privatization of the Port of Belgrade. The council had filed charges against the people involved in the case, but Barac fears there will be no trial. The two-day seminar is hosted by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Mission in Serbia. It is attended by 25 journalists from Belgrade and Pristina, along with a number of Serbian officials.
