Macedonian President Georgi Ivanov will pay an official visit to Serbia on Wednesday. He will confer with his Serbian counterpart Boris Tadic, the Serbian president's press service announced on Tuesday. Macedonian president to visit Belgrade The two presidents are to discuss bilateral cooperation, improvement of economic cooperation, as well as the region's EU integration. Tadic and Ivanov previously met in June, when they assessed that the speedy EU integration of the regional countries is a precondition for regional peace and stability. On that occasion they concluded that the political relations between Serbia and Macedonia are good, and discussed the possibility of opening new border crossings with the aim of intensifying communication between the citizens on both sides of the border. The Skopje-Belgrade relations deteriorated when Macedonia recognized the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo in June 2008. In view of that, at the inauguration of the Macedonian president in May 2009, Tadic said that the two countries have different positions regarding Kosovo's declaration of independence, adding that after a certain standstill in bilateral relations, the countries need to continue moving forward.
