A Kosovo Albanian government official says Hashim Thaci and Fatmir Sejdiu want to attend the enthronement of Serbian Patriarch Irinej. The ceremony will be held at the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Patriarchate of Pec. K. Belgrade daily Press reported that the Serbian Orthodox Church had turned down Thaci and Sejdiu's demand, adding that sending invitations to Kosovo officials would mean the church recognized Kosovo's statehood. Yesterday, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic called for the event "not to be politicized". Tanjug reported that State Secretary with the Ministry for Kosovo and Metohija Oliver Ivanovic said that Pristina officials are unlikely to withhold permission to attend the event from Serbian officials if they themselves are not invited, and that "the established procedure for the visits of Serbian officials to Kosovo cannot be altered." "We will inform the EULEX representative in Belgrade about this and we expect to receive a positive answer," Ivanovic said.
