The government will back the Yumco textile factory and the development of entrepreneurship in Vranje and the Pcinja District in southern Serbia. This is according to Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and Minister for the National Investment Plan (NIP) Verica Kalanovic, who visited the town on Wednesday. Govt. says will back entrepreneurship in south Cvetkovic said that the government has already initiated activities aimed at stabilizing the production in Yumco, and pointed out that 2,000 people are already employed in the factory. It is true that they do not have high salaries, but we have set the basis for the future and are ready export, Cvetkovic stated. He noted that government priorities in the next period will include opening of new jobs and increase of export. The prime minister underscored that today's opening of the Business Incubator Center at Yumco's storeroom for raw materials is the result of a joint project of the government, the city of Vranje and Yumco company, and added that it represents a good example of how joint resources can be put to use. Cvetkovic expressed expectation that all parties involved will benefit from the opening of the Business Incubator Center as it will offer new jobs, reduce entrepreneurs' expenditures, while Yumco will have an opportunity to establish cooperation with small businesses. Kalanovic reminded that NIP funded the inauguration of the Business Incubator Center in cooperation with other state institutions, and added that eight new companies will be opened in the center, thus providing jobs for 40 people. She noted that the Business Incubator Centre has the potential for hosting 14 small businesses and expressed belief that these new companies will soon join the local market.
