Kosovo Albanian President Fatmir Sejdiu has repeated that Kosovo authorities and Belgrade can talk about anything but the status of Kosovo. “With Serbia we can speak about any topic that is in the interest of the two neighboring countries, but never about the issue of Kosovo’s independence,” Sejdiu was quoted as saying today as he addressed the assembly in Pristina, boycotted by some opposition parties. Sjediu rejects new talks; Rexhepi speaks again Sjediu also called upon Serbian President Boris Tadic and other Belgrade officials to "distance themselves from the groups which were inciting tensions and violence in the northern part of Kosovo". He also accused representatives of Belgrade of trying to present the latest events in Kosovska Mitrovica, the hand grenade attack and attempted assassination of a Kosovo assembly member, as a consequence of the unilateral proclamation of Kosovo’s independence. Sejdiu stated that "ideas about changes of borders" were "always dangerous, especially so in the Balkans. “Proponents of such ideas should know that such experiments would open Pandora’s Box for the entire Western Balkans because such issues could easily open in all countries of the region,” said he. Sejdiu was further quoted as saying that Serbia continues with its “destructive relation toward Kosovo in order to prevent the process of further recognitions”. Meanwhile, Kosovo Albanian Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi, whose statements about sending "special police" to the volatile northern, mostly Serb part of the divided town of Kosovska Mitrovica earned him a reaction from President Tadic, today revisited the subject in fresh statements to the press. According to the Albanian language media in Pristina, he told Tadic to "mind his own business" and not to interfere with Kosovo issues. The Pristina government official added that regardless of Tadic’s statement, he would "not give up on establishing the rule of law in northern Kosovo" and that members of Kosovo police would soon go to the area, so as to arrest criminals. “I’m not sending special police units to Kragujevac or to any other Serbian town, but to the territory of the state of Kosovo,” Rexhepi was heard saying.
