Serbia's Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society organizes a ministerial conference on the digital divident. Speaking at the opening of the gathering in Belgrade, Minister Jasna Matic assessed on Wednesday that it was necessary to reach an agreement at the regional level on the use of the digital dividend. Ahead of the opening of the two-day ministerial conference dedicated to the adjustment of the digital dividend in Southeast Europe, Matic told the journalists that the EU has reached an agreement on how this frequency will be used. "Serbia will get the digital dividend after April 4, 2012, that is after we switch over to digital television. Within this period the entire region will go through the digitalization process and that is why it is important to reach an agreement so that we could coordinate the use of this spectrum," Matic underscored. She said that representatives of eleven countries will take part in the conference, adding that the experience of the Mobile Operators Association and International Telecommunication Union in using the digital dividend will be the most useful. The conference will be attended by representatives of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey.
