The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed condolences to the families of victims killed in as Israel intercepted a convoy carrying aid to Gaza. In a statement issued in Belgrade on Tuesday, the ministry condemned “the excessive use of force and urged restraint and compliance with international law principles”. Belgrade reacts to ME flotilla deaths The ministry expressed support to all requests, especially by the UN Security Council, for an immediate, unbiased and transparent investigation of the case in keeping with international standards. The ministry condemned the excessive use of force which resulted in death of civilians. The Serbian MFA urged “restraint and compliance with international law to secure the conditions for finding a peaceful solution for the untenable blockade of the Gaza strip which affects innocent population”, its statement said. The incident happened on early on Monday when Israeli naval commandos met resistance as they boarded a Turkish-flagged ship – one in the convoy of five – enforcing their country's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip.
