Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said that he talked with Colombian state officials about cooperation in the fight against organized crime. “The most important topic of discussion with Colombian officials was establishing close cooperation between the two governments in the fight against organized crime. Colombia is a country that has made a lot of progress over the last several years in stopping the production and sale of narcotics, and their experiences will be very useful to use,” Jeremic said. Jeremic meets with Colombian officials He added that an agreement was reached for Interior Minister Ivica Dacic to visit Bogota soon, adding that a bilateral agreement would be signed at that time between Serbia and Colombia for cooperation in fighting organized crime. Jeremic said that the fight against organized crime is one of Serbia’s key international priorities. He met with his Colombian counterpart Jaime Bermudez, President Alvaro Uribe, and Vice-President Francisco Santos. Jeremic said that he also talked about economic and cultural cooperation, as well as the coming conference of non-aligned countries. Jeremic said that one issue that is hindering relations is the fact that Colombia is one of the few Latin American countries that has recognized Kosovo’s independence. “I expressed my expectations that Colombia would be more restrained in the future in international organizations when it is a question of Pristina requesting membership, at least until the process before the International Court of Justice has finished,” Jeremic said.
