Speaker: “Crime” right term for Srebrenica

Asked whether her Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) will vote for the resolution if the term “genocide” is used, Djukic-Dejanovic said that in that case, there would have to be talks held between MP groups in parliament. Asked who is writing the resolution, she said that it is “a certain number of MPs that will probably emerge as those who will propose the draft.” She said that the Democratic Party is leading the initiative and that there will probably be a parliamentary session scheduled to discuss the drafted resolutions in early February. Djukic-Dejanovic said that the Srebrenica resolution cannot shake the ruling coalition, and that it is clear that its adoption will be supported by a majority. According to the indictments of the Hague Tribunal, soldiers of the Bosnian Serb army, under the command of Ratko Mladic, entered Srebrenica from July 11-19, 1995, and organized a systematic killing of about 8,000 Muslim men and boys. Some 30,000 women and children were also deported in two days.
