Director of the State Bureau for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Vera Pavlovic Loncarski said that the UNESCO list contains eleven monuments located in Serbia's territory – four of which in Kosovo and Metohija, which are listed as “Medieval monuments in Kosovo.” These are three Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) monasteries: in Decani, Pec, and Gracanica and the church in Prizren dedicated to Bogorodica Ljeviska (Our Lady of Ljevis), adding that the monuments have also been on the UNESCO list of endangered sites since 2006. Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, who also attended the event, said that culture represents "one of the most power weapons" in a country's foreign policy, adding that the question of cultural identity is "one of the most important questions". “The situation is difficult when we talk about preserving out cultural monuments, and a cultural cleansing is often attempted, with the most drastic one being in March 2004, when 35 monuments were destroyed and burned,” Jeremic said, referring to the attacks on Serbs and Serb heritage in Kosovo organized by ethnic Albanians. He said that there was a "danger that the four monuments found in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, which are Serbian heritage, be added to Kosovo and become its heritage". “Serbia is using active and energetic policy and diplomatic measures with UNESCO to stop a vote from happening, so that the four monuments are still the cultural heritage of Serbia,” Jeremic said. He said that Serbia will host a meeting of Southeast European senior officials on cultural heritage in 2011. Jeremic, Bradic, attend the book promotion (Beta)
