Berisha: KFOR guarantees security
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha says that the international forces in Kosovo will guarantee peace not only in the province, "but in the entire region".

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha says that the international forces in Kosovo will guarantee peace not only in the province, "but in the entire region". Asked during a meeting with KFOR’s commander, German Lieutenant General Markus Bentler, about the possibility of Albanian soldiers participating in KFOR, Berisha replied that Albanian troops could be a part of KFOR, but that they were not interested currently. Berisha: KFOR guarantees security Berisha also brushed off concerns expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following the Albanian prime minister’s statement that “Albanians in the Balkans should unite,” adding that he believed that Lavrov’s statement had been poorly translated. On the second day of his Kosovo visit, Berisha and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci laid a wreath at the grave of Adem Jashari, the first commander of the KLA, and visited his family. Berisha is due to meet with EU Civilian Representative Pieter Feith, before rounding off his visit with a trip to Prizren, where the municipal assembly has declared him an honorary citizen.
