The Socialist International (SI) Council has unanimously accepted the Socialist Party of Serbia's (SPS) membership application. SPS, which is one of the ruling parties in Serbia at this time, said in a statement on Tuesday that a meeting in Budva, Montenegro, saw the organization accept its Ethics Committee's opinion that a process of accession of the SPS should begin. Socialist International to make SPS member "This is yet another acknowledgement of the SPS as a modern left-wing party on the Serbian political scene with international legitimacy, and this is one step forward to the party's full membership in the world family of socialist and social-democratic parties," a statement said from the party, founded and led until his death by former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.
