Socialist Party (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic says that the ruling coalition did not discuss "throwing G17 Plus out" of the government. Something of the kind, the first deputy PM and interior minister told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti in an interview, "is not necessary". Dacic: DS is our long-term partner "There were no such discussions. This is a question for the coalition gathered around the Democratic Party. A deal with someone who would enter the government instead of [G17 Plus leader Mladjan] Dinkic would be needed in order to reconfigure the government. But, I think that is unnecessary." Dacic said that he would "not mind" sharing power with the opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic. "I would be glad to sit in the same government with him because Nikolic would then admit that I was right when I made a government with Tadic," said he. Dacic also told the newspaper that his party is not negotiating with anyone to form the local government in the Belgrade municipality of Zemun in the wake of early local elections there, and is instead waiting for the Democrats (DS) to make their move, but that once again, he "does not mind" teaming up with the SNS. "The DS is a long-term political partner for us. We have exceptional cooperation with the DS and I think it's important for the country that there is political stability in the long-term," Dacic was quoted. He commented on the delays in adopting the draft Vojvodina statute by saying that this SPS generation does not wish to be remembered like that of the times of the former Yugoslavia (SFRJ) 1974 Constitution adoption. "We do not deny Vojvodina's right to autonomy, but all the provisions of the statute that go outside the boundaries of the Constitution will not be accepted. If [leader of the Vojvodina Social-Democrats Nenad] Canak is asking for the Constitution to be respected when it comes to the money, we ask the same when it comes to the legal order and state jurisdictions." Dacic said that as far as efforts to curb organized crime and corruption go, he believed "things would not end with arrests of mayors of Zrenjanin and Arandjelovac", and that "officials positioned much higher than municipal presidents have reason to be apprehensive".
