The Kosovo government says it condemns all “isolated cases of violations of free speech,” stating that it supports freedom of expression and media development. “The Kosovo government believes that the media is an important partner in deepening its obligations for strengthening the concept of good, transparent and effective governance in building functional institutions and accountability in the interest of all citizens,” the statement adds. "These attacks are clearly aimed at silencing the kind of investigative journalism that bothers the government," said Wanda Troszczynska-van Genderen, HRW’s Western Balkans researcher. Xharra is the editor-in-chief of the “Life in Kosovo” program.

Speaking of violations of freedom of expression in Kosovo, the government in Priština stated that they “do not represent the vision and commitment of the institutions for the development of democracy, protection of free speech and media independence.”
