The regular spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PA CE) opens in Strasbourg on Monday. It will last until April 30, while a report on progress in Serbia's fulfilling its obligations stemming from CE membership will be on the agenda on the second day of this session. PACE session opens, Serbia report on Tuesday The Council of Europe commission in charge of the follow-up of the situation in Serbia has assessed in its report, which will be reviewed at a regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Tuesday, that since its admission into the CE in 2003, Serbia has made progress in fulfilling its obligations, and it underscores full support to the continued integration of Serbia with the European Union (EU). In the report, which refers to the period from 2008 to this day, the Serbian authorities are urged to closely cooperate both between themselves and with the international factors in order to improve the stability and prosperity in the country and the region as a whole. The report also points to the fact that at the parliamentary elections in May 2008, the people of Serbia opted for the country's European path, and calls on the government in Belgrade to make concrete moves and to take another series of reform steps that will improve the life of the people in the country. Recognition is being given to Serbia for all it has done in its cooperation so far with The Hague Tribunal, but at the same time, the country is being urged to conclude that cooperation in an efficient manner by handing over Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe also welcomes the fact that Serbia is defending its position on Kosovo and Metohija by diplomatic and peaceful means, in keeping with international law.
