Skender Hyseni claims that Kosovo was presented as a country, not a UN protectorate, at the last informal EU ministerial summit in the Czech Republic. Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, who also attended the meeting over the weekend, said Belgrade did not object to Hyseni's presence since he came as a member of an UNMIK delegation. "Kosovo presented as state" “We had a special invitation for this meeting, while UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier was there as an observer. Kosovo was presented as a country, not under the umbrella of UNMIK,” Hyseni, appointed by the Kosovo Albanian government as foreign minister, said. He added that "Kosovo asked to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU as soon as possible". “We stressed the stance that all the countries of the Balkans should be integrated into the EU at about the same time,” Hyseni said. He added that meetings at the UN in New York, and now in the Czech Republic, "are a good opportunity to present the results Kosovo has achieved over the last several months". “Stances that Kosovo is in a stable state dominated the discussion, despite the provocations coming from various sides,” Hyseni said, adding that he had "bilateral talks" with officials from the countries that did not recognize Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence. “There will be new recognitions soon,” he said, adding that, "in three weeks, Bosnia-Herzegovina will recognize Kosovo passports".
