Had elections been held in late January, the five-party coalition led by the Democrats (DS) would have secured more votes than last May. This is according to a survey conducted by the Strategic Marketing agency. The coalition, known as For a European Serbia (ZES), would fare so well primarily thanks to the improved standing of the Democrats, this agency said. Poll: DS-led coalition strongest The Serb Progressive Party (SNS) – which split from the opposition Serb Radical Party (SRS) last fall, would be in the second place "with many more seats", while the Radicals and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), would have won fewer mandates, wrote Strategic Marketing Director Srdjan Bogosavljevic in an article published in daily Politika on Sunday. Bogosavljevic said there were many more undecided voters at this time, compared to the previous election campaign, held last spring. Despite the percentage gains, all parties would lose the number of votes in comparison with the results they recorded ahead or at the time of the last elections, he wrote. The poll results were given as follows: the ZES coalition - 39.5 percent, followed by the SNS with 19.4 percent, the SRS - 13.6 percent, the LDP with 8.7 percent, the DSS-NS coalition could count on 6.8 percent, while the SPS-JS would have won 5.2 percent of the votes, Bogosavljevic wrote. The article did not specify the number of those interviewed for the survey or the margin of error.
