At the same time, the Islamic Community in Serbia issued its own statement, condemning in the strongest terms Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip settlements "whose victims have mostly been civilians", as well as "the destruction of several dozen mosques in that area", adding that these attacks could cause a humanitarian catastrophe. "It is necessary for the Security Council, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Arab League to undertake urgent activities in order to halt attacks on innocent civilians," the statement said.
