Šutanovac: Professional army in 2010

Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said on Saturday that the professionalization of the Serbian Army would take place by 2010. "I am convinced that the society gives its support to such projection of the army. But I am not convinced that we approach this properly as a state and that we have suitable public support, in order for the persons interested in becoming professional soldiers to be able to apply and to be aware of advantages and benefits," Sutanovac said. Sutanovac: Professional army in 2010 In an interview for the latest issue of Army's Odbrana (Defense) magazine, he said that much work lies ahead in the realization of the process of the professionalization of the military, and that "despite the organization of the system from the inside, good communication with the media, NGO sector and intellectuals has to be ensured", according to Tanjug. Asked if Serbia's military will be made up of professional soldiers byy 2010, Sutanovac said that "as far as the ministry and Army are concerned, I am optimistic that we will meet the deadline and be completely ready".
