President Boris Tadic says Serbia "has to carve out its political identity in the years to come". "It is my duty and I am confident that we have enough potential to achieve social, and even political, prosperity in the next five years," Tadic, currently on a visit to China, was heard saying during a reception held in his honor at the Serbian embassy in Beijing. Tadic: Serbia to carve out political identity "In achieving our goal, the people who represent our culture, athletes who make us famous across the world, are very important," he said, and announced that he would visit Beijing "again in a couple of months". Tadic was in town for the opening of the 29th Olympic Games, where Serbia is represented by 92 athletes. He sent out a message to representatives of the embassy, the Olympic Committee of Serbia and "to respected friends of the Serbian people in China", that they had made an essential impact on the bilateral relations between the two countries over the past years. Tadic added that China's development over the past two decades"could hardly be compared to any other country's progress", adding that many aspects from this example "may be used in practice in our region". According to an announcement made by the Serbian embassy representative, Tadic will on Sunday watch Serbia's shooter Jasna Sekaric compete, and will later attend a water polo match between Serbia and Germany. Tadic is scheduled to end his visit to Beijing on August 11.
