B92 understands that the foreign minister objected to Kosovo being referred to in the document in a context that might suggest that it was an independent country in the region. Jeremic also refused to allow Skender Hyseni to address the summit as Kosovo’s foreign minister, insisting that the UNMIK representative speak on behalf of Kosovo. “There are certain ideas about including ideas in the final communique that are not acceptable to Serbia. Serbia will, of course, veto anything like that,” he warned. “When talks continue we will try nonetheless to adopt a common position acceptable to everyone, which does not bring into question our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, nor Resolution 1244,” said the foreign minister. Jeremic also met with French counterpart Bernard Kouchner in Bulgaria, who passed on to President Boris Tadic his hope that Serbian electorate’s will would be respected, and that “a government would soon be formed that would unite all the forces that wish for speedy EU integration.” Speaking to Tadic and Jeremic, Kouchner conveyed his hope that a government would soon be formed that would be able to accept the hand offered to Serbia by the EU on April 29 with the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).
