Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic has today vetoed the final document of the South-East Europe Cooperation Summit in Bulgaria's Pomorie resort. This came because the paper was to mention Kosovo in a context suggesting that the territory has attributes of a state. Jeremic also blocked Kosovo Albanian representative Skender Hyseni from addressing the meeting as chief of the province's diplomacy, insisting at the same time that an UNMIK official speak instead. Serbia vetoes South-East Europe summit document Earlier, Jeremic told FoNet that this could happen because "there were ideas that the final communique from the 11th summit of presidents and prime ministers participating in the process of cooperation in southeastern Europe could include views unacceptable to Serbia". During today’s ministerial meeting, he said that he would try to agree on a collective stance with his colleagues that would not infringe Serbia’s territorial integrity or sovereignty. “There will be nothing in the conclusion that will in any way infringe Serbia’s territorial integrity or sovereignty, and that is a red line that we will defend until the end. If there is no conclusion, then so be it, but everything must be adopted with a consensus,” the foreign minister said. He said that today’s regional meeting was very important and that the foreign ministers would “prepare the groundwork for tomorrow’s meeting of presidents.” Jeremic said that the main topic of the meeting was regional cooperation, and Kosovo was one of the central issues. The foreign minister stressed that Serbia must continue its foreign politicy plans because even though the government had not been formed yet, Serbia could afford no respite in making progress on the international arena. “The sooner the government is formed, the sooner we will be able to enhance our political credibility and present ourselves on the international arena,” Jeremic said.
