Serbian nationals living abroad eligible to vote are today casting their ballots in four states, one day ahead of the elections in the country. Expatriates living in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States and Portugal will today choose which party or coalition from the 22 tickets they believe will best lead Serbia. Expats start voting in four countries A special voter list, established by the Electoral Commission, RIK, holds the names of 51,211 Serbians living in 42 countries abroad. They will cast their ballots in 77 polling stations. In Canada, polls will open at the consulate-general in Toronto, the embassy in Ottawa, the honorary consulate in Vancouver and the Serb church of the Holy Trinity in Toronto,7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local times. The same rule is in force for those voting in Portugal and the United Kingdom – the polling stations in both countries are at the Serbian embassies in Lisbon and London respectively. Serbians with right to vote who live in the U.S. will be able to do so in five locations: the embassy in Washington, consulate-generals in Chicago and New York, Cultural Center St. Sava and the church of St. Sava in Boston. On May 11, the voters in the country, 6,749,688 of them, will elect 250 lawmakers of the parliament, 120 deputies of the assembly of Vojvodina, and deputies in 24 city and 150 municipal assemblies.
