The French ambassador to Belgrade says that the decision of 17 EU countries to offer free visas to Serbian citizens has already taken effect at his embassy. In the three days since the decision was taken, the embassy has approved a greater number of free visas than usual, Ambassador Jean Francois Terral told B92. French embassy already issuing free visas “We started implementing the decision on Monday, and I asked for figures today for the first three days since the relaxations came into force. The data shows that the percentage of visas issued for free has increased by 64 percent,” the ambassador said. He added that he expected the volume of visa applications to increase in future. “This is just the beginning, because we will undoubtedly have more applications as time goes by. I would like to congratulate embassy employees as well for working so quickly. Despite rumors that it wouldn’t work, we’re under way and everything is going very well,” Terral said.
