Cedomir Jovanovic says that he sees the Democratic Party (DS) as a partner in the future government. The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) said that his criticism of the DS was constructive, and an example of the LDP “making room for change“ in DS policy, primarily in regards to Kosovo. LDP sees DS as future coalition partner “What we see as a problem is the stubborn insistence on refusing to accept the truth and to face facts (about Kosovo). We tried, we fought and I do not know what else Boris Tadic could have done to defend his political idea,“ Jovanovic told B92. He added that he was keen to know why the DS leader “does not now have the strength for a political u-turn.“ “We must face up to the fact that Serbia lost the right to administer Kosovo in 1999, and that this cannot be changed with stubborn insistence on the reaffirmation of [Slobodan] Milosevic’s legacy,“ Jovanovic underlined. He said that if the DS and LDP could overcome their differences on Kosovo, it would regulate their position on European, meaning “an sincere willingness to implement European policy in Serbia.” Speaking of the possible composition of the new government, Jovanovic said that none of his potential coalition partners would have a problem with the LDP. “The problem will be in the inability of the government to implement the policies needed to change the country. This incompetence is seen today in the election campaign,“ the LDP leader pointed out. He said that the LDP would not make room for the formation of a coalition between the Serb Radical Party and the Democratic Party of Serbia. Nor did Jovanovic wish to cooperate with the Socialist Party of Serbia, whom he did not view as a “new dynamic party.“ He said that he was “absolutely against“ elections being organized in Kosovo, because he believed that it would be a violation of Resolution 1244, and could spark a new crisis.
