Moscow’s aim is to relaunch talks on Kosovo’s status, says the president of the Duma’s foreign policy committee. “I’m sure Russia stands firmly by its position of complying with international law, and that we’ll continue our bilateral efforts in getting countries that are hesitating over recognizing Kosovo’s independence not to recognize,” Konstantin Kosachov told today’s edition of Novosti. Duma: Moscow seeks new status talks He believes that there are two key issues. “One’s psychological, the other legal. The first, a very important moment, is if half the world’s states do not recognize Kosovo. That will be a big blow for proponents of Kosovo independence, and will have a big psychological impact. The other aspect is international-legal. Russia will block Kosovo’s membership of all the important international organizations, starting with the UN and the OSCE. That will be a clear indicator that the West has erred by supporting Kosovo’s unilateral independence,” Kosachov explained.
