The Democratic Party (DS) and G17 Plus have agreed on a comprehensive pre-election coalition. The Democrats, led by Boris Tadic, and Mladjan Dinkic's G17 Plus, will have a joint list in the forthcoming parliamentary and local, but also provincial elections in Vojvodina. DS, G17 Plus clinch coalition deal This was confirmed today by one of the DS vice-presidents, Bojan Pajtic, and Dinkic himself, who held a news conference in Novi Sad. According to the deal, G17 Plus will have 60 candidates in the list containing the maximum 250 names. Dinkic said that the goal of his party is to "bring together all the pro-European forces and thus ensure their victory on May 11". "Serbia is once again at the crossroads, because it has to choose between joining the EU and self-isolation," he added. Pajtic explained that the election list will be called "For European Vojvodina – DS – G17 Plus – Boris Tadic", on the provincial level, while the word "Vojvodina" will be replaced by "Serbia" on the parliamentary ballot list. The new coalition, Pajtic explained, is founded on three principles, "better life for citizens, continued EU integration, and preservation of Serbia's territorial integrity". "Parties that accept these principles can consider themselves our partners," he specified. Rasim Ljajic's Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP) also agreed to join the DS ticket earlier. Pajtic said this coalition will be joined by "a number of ethnic minority parties and renowned individuals". Earlier this week, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS) also confirmed that they have formed a pre-election coalition. The largest single party in the parliament officially dissolved Wednesday, the Serb Radical Party (SRS), will run alone. Other than G17 Plus, which won 6.8 percent of the votes in the January 2007 elections, two other small parties are still up for grabs: the Liberal Democrats (LDP) and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).
