The UK ambassador to Belgrade "welcomes the support of the vast majority of Serbian citizens for EU membership". Stephen Wordsworth told the latest edition of the Euro-Atlantic Review that, in so doing, Belgrade could "settle problems of development, investment and economic progress". The British ambassador added that NATO membership was not a condition for EU membership, that the Partnership for Peace program offered countless avenues for cooperation, and that the UK would support Serbia’s accession to the Alliance should Belgrade want to join. He earmarked terrorism and weapons of mass destruction as the key security challenges for the UK in the 21st century.
