Javier Solana told B92 that a decision on the EU Kosovo mission operational plan is expected soon. The EU foreign policy chief was speaking to our reporter on the sidelines of the 44th Conference on Security Policy in Munich, Germany, which ends today. Solana announces EU mission operational plan These announcements come despite official Belgrade's position that rejects such a mission, set to replace UNMIK in the province, as unacceptable. "Serbia's leaders must resolve their internal problems within the ruling coalition, since they have an obligation to do that," Solana also commented on the turmoil that the government was thrown into on Monday, when news about the decision to go ahead with the mission plans reached Belgrade. "Serbia's leaders, the president and prime minister, know our position very well. We think that the European Union has an obligation to continue to assist the process of the stabilization of the region. That is our position and that is the direction we will pursue," he added. Solana also said that the mission, contested by Russia as well as Serbia, has been "prepared in detail and well analyzed." "The plan for this mission has already been approved by the EU and we will probably have to make a decision soon in order to finalize the operational plans, in case they needs to be implemented."
