Domestic and foreign observers are monitoring today’s presidential vote in Serbia. They include 23 observers from the OSCE and three from the Inter Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as Slovakian representatives, and eight delegates from the Russian Duma. Domestic, foreign observers monitor ballot 3,087 CESID observers will also be keeping an eye on proceedings. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court (VSS) has overturned an Electoral Commission (RIK) ruling to deny permission to the U.S. and UK embassies to monitor the elections. Court spokeswoman Vesna Dabic told Beta that the VSS had upheld Milos Adamovic’s appeal and that their decision was final, meaning that RIK could no longer oppose the VSS’s verdict. “The decision is based on the fact that the UK and U.S. embassies submitted their complete applications before the deadline and the government expressed its opinion that it felt it was necessary to allow the observers to monitor the work of the body responsible for conducting the elections,“ she explained. Dabic added that RIK had delivered its appeal to the Supreme Court yesterday at 5 p.m., and had received its response this morning at 6.15.
