The Kosovo government will bring before parliament draft laws based on the Ahtisaari Plan. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuchi said that the Kosovo government had taken the decision on Thursday to pass on to the Kosovo parliament draft laws emanating from international mediator Martti Ahtisaari's plan for supervised independence. Pristina preparing laws based on Ahtisaari Plan The government session, chaired by Kuchi, was attended by Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, head of the U.S Office in Pristina Tina Kaidanow and EU representative John Johnson. The set of laws referring to the Ahtisaari package will be reviewed at a separate session, Kuchi said and added that the government had decided to review once again all laws that had not been sent to parliament by the previous government. The deputy prime minister said that the draft laws were due to come up for parliamentary procedure once independence had been declared, but that a political decision would be taken over the timeframe for their adoption. The government has also formed a special working group to prepare a strategy for passing laws in 2008. Asked whether the government had an action plan in the event of Serbia organizing a blockade after the independence declaration, Kuchi replied that the government was “prepared to respond to all possible reflexes.“ “The Kosovo government does not work on the basis of reflex. We are in constant copperation with the corresponding domestic and international institutions, in order for Kosovo to get through that phase,“ he said.
