The leaders of the two largest Albanian parties in Kosovo Monday signed a coalition deal. Hashim Thaci's Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and League of Kosovo (LDK), led by the province-s president, Fatmir Sejdiu, signed the agreement under which Sejdiu will keep his post in the next five years, with Thaci as prime minister. Kosovo Albanians agree on coalition Under the agreement the parliament president will be elected from that PDK ranks, and this party will also get seven of the 15 ministries, while the LDK looks to control five ministries, Albanian-language media in Pristina reported. Members of the province's minority communities will get three ministries, while the PDK and the LDK will have one deputy premier each, the coalition agreement states. Kosovo Serbs will control Labor and Social Issues ministries. The latter is also in charge of return and ethnic communities. Other minorities will have the Ministry for Ecology and Rural Development. "Principles of the agreement guarantee efficient work in building of the new independent, sovereign and democratic state of Kosovo," Thaci said after signing the coalition agreement. "This coalition will have making Kosovo independent as its first priority. We have a time framework and I can tell you that it will happen very soon," Sejdiu said. The parliament in Pristina met for the first time on Friday, on a legal deadline, but adjourned after a brief session pending the then still elusive PDK-LDK deal. The legislature, elected in November a 17 poll, would elect the speaker and vote on the government on Wednesday. Sejdi, Thaci, sign the coalition agreement (Beta)
