Tomislav Nikolic says if he wins Jan. 20, it will be a win “for Serbia, not Moscow, not Brussels, not Washington.” At a rally in Svilajnac, the Serb Radical Party (SRS) candidate called on Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav Kostunica “not to support “ incumbent president, Boris Tadic, as it would be a “disaster for Serbia.” Nikolic: My victory will be Serbia's victory Nikolic said that, if elected, unlike his predecessor, he would make sure that the police, prosecution, and courts did their jobs and brought criminals to trial, so that they would not be “tried by the nation”. “Countries who want to recognize Kosovo independence are not our friends – when they take a part of your territory from you, it’s the same as if they were to come into your home and kill one of your housemates, it is unforgivable,” he stressed. “We didn’t earn this Serbia, but our ancestors, who fought and died for it, and for someone to break it up, we won’t allow it, because it’s easiest to sell what you haven’t earnt,” Nikolic explained. The SRS deputy leader was adamant that “Serbia will not be led by those who sold it to buy a new car.” “I haven’t stood because of rich people, but because of the poor. Serbia’s poor have no protection: the peasant, the worker, the pensioner, the victims of transition, as they call them, they have no-one in Serbia to protect them,” he concluded.
