Military education in line with NATO standards

The 2007 generation is also the first to have been educated according to NATO standards for all three branches of the military , including homeland defense, peacekeeping missions and community assistance.

Navy Captain Petar Bošković said that as many as 800 candidates applied for a one-year specialist studies at the School of National Defense and that 13 of them enrolled and successfully completed the course.

The NATO standards applied in this program differ from earlier practices.

“The curricula have been adjusted in line with these standards. The Serbian Army aims at becoming compatible with NATO procedures,” he said.
On behalf of the 50th class of graduates, Bošković also promised that this generation of officers would do their best to restore historical prestige and respectability of the Serbian Army, as well as to acquire new friends and allies.

President Boris Tadić, who attended the ceremony and presented the graduates with honorary sabers, said that the Army, after a year of reforms, was now appropriately modernized.
