Slovenia has no position on Kosovo plan
According to Rupel, Slovenia plans to make the Western Balkans the focus of its EU presidency, due to take place in the first half of 2008.“Slovenia intends to become the region’s engine and will do all to bring it closer to the EU,” Rupel said.
He also said that Ljubljana had “no particular” position on Martti Ahtisaari’s Kosovo plan, and described the support it earlier lent to the proposal as “not Slovenia’s own, but an EU stance”.
Rupel added he expected the UN Special Kosovo Envoy’s plan to soon undergo corrections, and added it was possible Kosovo might become one of the main tasks for the Slovenian EU presidency.
