Ferry to Vukovar back after 15 years
The ferry discontinued operations in the early 1990s, with the war in Croatia.Work to reinstate the ferry transportation began in 2000 and has finally been completed, with financial assistance from the Dutch government.
Bač Municipal President Tomislav Bogunović said that the residents of the municipality will benefit tremendously from the ferry.
“People will not have to go pick up their pensions in Croatia by traveling a roundabout route of hundreds of kilomteres. The ferry is free, no one will have to pay, not even with bikes or cars, in the next three months,” Bogunović said.
Vukovar and Bač are now connected by a small border crossing, which means that only residents with passes can use the ferry, however, there are plans to make the crossing international.
