Rehn: Europe pays for Kosovo failures
“Kosovo’s status should not be solved by one-sided declarations or unilateral threats of vetoes, rather by effective and responsible multilateralism. A stable solution is best reached through a process that can be led multilaterally,” Rehn said.He said it was hard to work under the conditions of political uncertainty while the process in the United Nations Security Council was still ongoing.
Rehn said that Kosovo will be “a serious test for the EU’s ability to deal with security challenges on its own continent and its future domestic territory.”
“We must take responsibility for this question because the future stability of our continent depends on it, as does the credibility of our foreign policies. The EU is focused on creating a democratic, multiethnic and economically sustainable Kosovo,” Rehn said.
